Mary is our most
knowledgeable band member. She knows how to tune a banjo (don’t), how to jam
all the instruments into a minivan, and even how to coax Sarah into sitting in
the back despite the impending danger of an avalanche. Mary began her musical career
with piano lessons when she was seven. During high school, she sang in school
choirs and played saxophone in band. She took up the guitar in college and
played on and off until Josh started taking lessons. Since then, she’s migrated
to the banjo.
Trained as a medical dietitian, Mary let her license lapse while
homeschooling the kids. Now that they’re graduated, she plans to return to
school and become a Registered Nurse. She also volunteers at the Athens Pregnancy Resource Center.
